To celebrate the holiday season, we're sharing inspiring lessons over the next 12 days that our favorite dancers and choreographers learned from who else, but their teachers and mentors.
Sutton Foster stole our hearts as spunky Michelle Simms on the first season of "Bunheads." And though we give this triple threat a thumbs up, there was a time when she herself wasn't quite as confident. That is, until she snagged the lead in Broadway's Thoroughly Modern Millie. There, she met Rob Ashford who gave her the confidence to finally call herself a dancer.
"I grew up as a dancer and really was one until I was 19. Then I became more interested in singing and acting, and dancing became way secondary. I stopped studying and fell out of shape. When I started Throughly Modern Millie I stood in the back corner terrified when we learned dance scenes. Rob always pulled me out to the front. He made me feel like a dancer again. And that was major."
"Bunheads" reuturns to ABC Family on January 7.
