Celebrate NYC Pride Week With an '80s Dance Party and Two Trailblazing Companies

MADBOOTS DANCE was named "25 to Watch" by Dance Magazine in 2016.

NYC's official LGBT Pride Week—a commemoration of the Stonewall Riots of 1969, which marked the beginning of Gay Rights Movement—is upon us. What better way to honor the festivities than with some dancing?

The city's Pride celebration is technically on Sunday, June 24, but here are a few LGBTQ events and performances to honor the festivities.

RETRO FACTORY: An 80s Themed Dance Party

On Friday, June 15 in Long Island City, The Plaxall Gallery will become 1983 to honor the legendary gay dance party held at The Pyramid Club in the East Village. Queered re-creations of iconic 80's music videos will be performed live and choreographed by Breton Tyner-Bryan, Sidney Erik Wright and Shiloh Goodin and several drag performers, including Chelsea Piers, will be featured. Dance the night away with 80s classics by Madonna, Wham! and Michael Jackson. For more info, visit here.
