The Big Apple Prepares for NYC Dance Week—Photos
June 12, 2013

New York City Dance Week officially begins next Thursday, but the festivities kicked off last night with a gala and fundraising event at rooftop bar Copacabana. The evening included performances by NYC modern company SUNPROJECT and Jersey Tap Fest founder Hillary-Marie Michael. Between performances, a DJ provided salsa and swing music to get attendees on their feet. Check out the evening’s highlights below, and click to register for New York City Dance Week’s free classes (June 20–29).

SUNPROJECT staged a farcical rendition of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.

NYC Dance Week enthusiasts took to the floor between performances.

Hillary-Marie Michaels performed a hard-hitting rhythm tap piece.
