Performance Planner: Losing, Shmoosing: Not winning is OK, too
November 29, 2001

It’s hard to see your students upset after not placing at a competition. They worked so hard, and feel let down when their scores aren’t reflective of their preparation. And although students often struggle to understand it’s not all about winning, there are steps to ensure competition stays healthy and friendly.

  • Socialize with other teams.
  • Be supportive of your dancers and optimistic of their scores, but be wary of setting unrealistic expectations.
