New Elizabeth Streb Documentary This Month

On Saturday, November 14 at 11:30 am, director Craig Lowy will premiere his film One Extraordinary Day, which follows Elizabeth Streb and her company members as they prepare to perform in the 2012 London Olympics. This isn’t the first time someone’s made a documentary about Streb. 2014’s Born to Fly gave another behind-the-scenes look at Streb, who exists in her own dance category—a hybrid of modern dance, gymnastics and pure daredevil sport. (She calls her company members “extreme action heroes.”)

OXD premieres at the DOC NYC Festival, happening at the School of Visual Arts Theatre in Chelsea. You can grab tickets here. Lowy, Streb and some of Streb’s company members will participate in a Q&A after the screening.

If you’re not in New York, check out the film’s website—the trailer and three lengthy excerpts (on the audition process and how the Skywalk and Eye portions of the Olympic performances happened) can be found there.
