NC Dance Starts Community Program
November 29, 2001

Thanks to a generous grant from the Women’s Impact Fund, North Carolina Dance Theatre is starting a Community Outreach Program for underprivileged children in Mecklenburg County.
The program, which will run for three years, will provide free quality dance instruction and performance opportunities to 120 children, ages 8–10. The county’s parks and recreation department will work with Dance Theatre to promote the program and to provide space for the classes. Participants will be selected based on an audition, financial need and parental involvement—parents, as well as students, will be required to attend orientation before the program starts.
“I’ve wanted to do a program like this for years, and I look forward to being part of the audition process,” said President and Artistic Director (and former Dance Teacher cover subject!) Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux.

Audition dates and locations will be announced in July 2009. For more information visit www.ncdance.org.
