In the wake of the shocking allegations made against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, millions of women and men have come forward with their own accounts of sexual harassment. Based on the admissions from the #MeToo, we now know one thing is for certain: Sexual harassment is a pervasive problem within our culture. The dance world and industry is no exception.

In this recent video, dancers gathered at Pineapple Dance Studios in London to share their own stories with a local news channel. One women describes advances made by a “sleazy” producer for a variety show who invited her to a script reading. Another talks about the abuse of power directors and choreographers have on young, inexperienced dancers who are desperate for work.

Bringing awareness to this sensitive issue will correct–and hopefully put an end–to this kind of behavior.
