To better understand the intricacies of dancing in pointe shoes, choreographer Fadi J. Khoury, artistic director of FJK Dance, took private lessons from his collaborative partner Sevin Ceviker.

“As a choreographer, I felt like I needed to learn more about dancing on pointe so that I could really know what I was asking from my dancers. So Sevin started teaching me ballet in pointe shoes. It has been an exciting change, and I feel like a baby again in the world of dance. The amount of strength and perseverance that a woman in pointe shoes has to have is by far more complicated than what a man has to do standing on his own feet.”
