New York City Ballet opens its fall season at Lincoln Center tomorrow, and on Thursday the company hosts its Fall Gala featuring couture costumes by designer Valentino Garavani, himself a longtime fan of classical dance.

Valentino has created one-of-a-kind designs for four of the evening's five performances. Word on the street is Balanchine's Rubies was picked as one of the ballets because it centers on Valentino's signature color: red.
