Jodie Gates to Direct USC’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance
April 18, 2013

Jodie Gates has been named vice dean and director of the new Glorya Kaufman School of Dance at the University of Southern California. The former Joffrey Ballet principal and Laguna Dance Festival founder will lead the first class of USC dance majors in fall 2015 under inaugural dean Robert Cutietta, who is also dean of the USC Thornton School of Music.

Cutietta conceived the idea for the school with the help of dance patron and philanthropist Glorya Kaufman, who donated an undisclosed sum of money last fall for the founding and construction of the institution. Cutietta and Kaufman hope the school will help create a more cohesive dance presence in Los Angeles.
