Dance Teacher Awards
The eighth annual Dance Teacher Awards, as well as the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award, will be presented at the Summit Gala on Wednesday, August 4, at 8 PM. Recipients in the private studios/conservatory, higher ed and K-12 sectors, will be honored for their outstanding contributions to dance education.
Who’s Eligible
Dance Teacher magazine is looking for the country’s top dance teachers—unique individuals who have truly distinguished themselves as outstanding educators and advocates for dance. If you know someone who deserves recognition, nominate him or her for a 2010 Dance Teacher Award in the private studio/conservatory, K–12 or higher education category.

Make sure to include your name and contact information, the name of your nominee, his or her school affiliation and award category, plus up to 400 words explaining why your nominee deserves recognition.
Extra Credit!
Show us your nominee in action! We want to see the teacher in the spotlight, teaching a class or leading a rehearsal, or in the wings—show us his or her students performing in a competition, performance or recital. While it’s not required, enhance your nomination by submitting a video of the potential award winner at dancemedia.com, in the Dance Teacher Instructional Video of the Month Contest.
The Selection Process
A total of four winners—two in private studios/conservatories, one in higher ed and one in K–12—will be selected by a distinguished panel of fellow dance educators, choreographers and other dance industry professionals, from a group of finalists chosen by the editors of DT. Recipients of the awards will be honored at the Dance Teacher Summit Gala, the closing event for the exciting 2010 Dance Teacher Summit, August 2-4, in New York City.
