Your #TuesdayTreat: Watch This Horse Prance Perfectly to Santana
August 16, 2016

What a time it is to be alive. As part of the equestrian dressage Olympic competition—for which horses are trained to complete specific movements—Spain’s Severo Jesus Jurado Lopez had his horse, Lorenzo, dance around to “Smooth” by Santana (featuring Rob Thomas). (I can’t believe I get to write that sentence.)

NBC posted a clip but then quickly took it down, so here’s a video of Lopez competing in Aachen earlier this year. Watching this horse prance perfectly in time to a Rob Thomas song is both mesmerizing and baffling in the best way.

Think horses are an unusual choice for a dance partner? Stay tuned for our September issue, which features JoAnna Mendl Shaw and her equine-friendly dance company, The Equus Projects.

Don’t miss a single issue of Dance Teacher.
