Big Changes at the José Limón Dance Foundation
May 19, 2016

In July, the José Limón Dance Foundation changes leadership as Carla Maxwell, artistic director of 38 years, transitions into her new role as Limón’s legacy director. Choreographer and California Institute of the Arts professor Colin Connor takes over as artistic director.

Connor performed with the Limón Dance Company for eight years. He later served on faculty at Juilliard, New York University and City College of New York before taking a position at CalArts, which he held for 13 years. While serving as choreographer in residence at the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography, Connor collaborated with the José Limón Dance Foundation to reconstruct Limón repertory.
