#WhyNotWednesday: New Yorkers Get Pranked—by Dance!
June 3, 2015

This has to be one of the best dance pranks to happen in New York City: Improv Everywhere, an NYC-based (all-in-good-fun) prank collective, teamed up with a new YouTube channel called Field Day to orchestrate three dance happenings in NYC public spaces. One—street dancers who suddenly turn out to be classically trained ballet dancers—happened in Washington Square Park; another involved swing dancers just happening to bump into each other on a busy crosswalk near Penn Station; and the third one (my favorite) had dancer-acrobats first disguised as groundskeepers in Bryant Park. Watch, and enjoy the happy tingles of knowing dance can make people—even curmudgeonly New Yorkers—smile.

And if you want to know more about how Improv Everywhere set this up, check out their detailed post (with photos and video) on the groundskeeper acrobats.
