As a principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company, Blakeley White-McGuire knows more than a little about intensity and dramatics. But thanks to Linda Hodes, a former Graham dancer and White-McGuire’s teacher throughout her 15-year professional career, White-McGuire also knows when to rein it in.

“She’s an inspiration for me in particular to not take yourself too seriously. I can be pretty intense, as I know Linda was when she was performing. Her approach is rather laid-back, in a very intense body of work. It’s an interesting counterbalance.”

MGDC will continue its City Center run tonight and tomorrow, March 22, at 8 pm. marthagraham.org
