March 12, 2014

ASDF winners from 2013 celebrate.

Great news for Washington, DC, students: The After School Dance Fund and the Washington Performing Arts Society’s partnered program, DC After School Latin Dance Program, is expanding to six schools in the DC area. Columbia Heights Education Campus, Cardozo High School, E.L. Haynes Public Charter School, Roosevelt High School, Next Step Public Charter School and Wilson High School will now all have access to the after school program that teaches its participants social dances like salsa, merengue, cha-cha and bachata. The program—which debuted in the spring of 2012—was designed to develop youth leadership and promote wellness, heritage and unity though Latin dance education. Students who take part in the program have to maintain a minimum grade point average.
