Dance that Makes a Difference
August 9, 2012

Sara Potler, founder of a program called Dance 4 Peace, traveled to the Olympics this year on the shortlist for Best Conflict Resolution Program in the Beyond Sport Awards.  D4P offers age-appropriate curriculums that use creative movement and dance to build social and emotional competencies, and students share their original choreography with other D4P classrooms across the globe each semester via video. “It’s a chance for kids that may have never left their neighborhood to feel like global citizens,” Potler said to Forbes. Schools in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Newark and NYC as well as Colombia, Germany and the Philippines have implemented Dance 4 Peace.
